  1. Installation Instructions for a NetWare 4.01 server
  2.  
  3. (These instructions assume that you have already installed NetWare
  4. Connect.)  
  5.  
  6. 1. Exit the NWC console if it is running.
  7.  
  8. 2. Do an NWCSTOP from the server console.
  9.  
  10. 3. Down the server.
  11.  
  12. 4. EXIT to DOS.
  13.  
  14. 5. Make a directory on the server's hard drive called PATCH.
  15.  
  16. 6. Make a subdirectory under PATCH called DISK1.
  17.  
  18. 7. Put NWC001.EXE into the DISK1 subdirectory and unzip it:
  19.      NWC001   <enter>
  20.  
  21. 8. Make a subdirectory under PATCH called DISK2.
  22.  
  23. 9. Put NWC002.EXE into the DISK2 subdirectory and unzip it:
  24.      NWC002      <enter>   
  25.  
  26. 10. RUN SERVER.EXE
  27.  
  28. 11. LOAD INSTALL
  29.  
  30. 12. Choose "Maintenance/Selective Installation"
  31.  
  32. 13. If you are running the NASI Connection Service (NCS), load
  33. SPXFIX2.NLM.  Add a LOAD SPXFIX2 statement to AUTOEXEC.NCF.

  35. 14. Choose "Product Options"
  36.  
  37. 15. Press INSERT
  38.  
  39. 16. Push F3
  40.  
  41. 17. Enter the path to the DISK1 directory.
  42.  
  43. 18. Follow the instructions.  
  44.  
  45. 19. Restart Netware Connect with NWCSTART.
  46.  
  47. 20. Reload your AIO driver(s).
  48.  
  49. 21. Copy the following new files to the remote PCs (and any
  50. workstations on your LAN which will functioning as remotes).     
  51.      NRN.COM*
  52.      DIALCON.EXE*
  53.      NETWARN.COM*
  54.  
  55. 22. Copy NASI.EXE* to any workstations on your LAN which will be
  56. functioning as remotes.
  57.  
  58. *NOTE: It is extremely important that the old versions of all 4 of
  59. these files be replaced on ALL workstations.

  61. 23. On a NetWare 4.01 server
  62.    - SPXFIX2.NLM     11/23/93
  63.    - PM401.NLM       2/3/94
  64.    - SPXDDFIX.NLM    9/20/93
  65.    - SPXS.NLM        9/14/93
  66.    - STREAMS.NLM     9/14/93
  67.    - TLI.NLM         9/14/93
  68.    - IPXS.NLM        8/23/93
  69. The first 2 files are included in the latest NetWare Connect patch,
  70. and installed automatically, the rest are in STRTL2.EXE which can be
  71. found in Library 4 of NOVLIB.

  73. 24. See item #1 in "Solutions Specifics" of NWC001.TXT, for
  74. instructions regarding the use of the new NetWarn utility.

  79. NOTES
  80. - Reinstall NetWare Connect if you do any of the following on your
  81. NetWare 4.x server:  
  82.  > Reinstall NetWare Directory Services
  83.  > Change the bindery context for the server
  84.  > Change the "IPX INTERNAL NET" address for the server
  85.  
  86. - NetWare Connect 1.0 does not support X.25 services on NetWare 4.0
  87. and NetWare 4.01 servers.
  88.  
  89. - Do not create a user named SUPERVISOR.  SUPERVISOR has a special
  90. meaning and is maintained by the NetWare 4.x operating system for
  91. NetWare 3.1x compatibility only.
